Catalina Island Eco-Marathon
Named “Best Island Run” and “Best Trail
Marathon” in2012 by Runner’s World Magazine!
The seventh annual Catalina Island Eco-Marathon is slated
for Saturday, November 9 at 8:00am on Catalina Island, CA. The Eco-Marathon offers
not only a very challenging and beautiful marathon that travels through the
interior of the island, but also a challenging trail 10K that is held around
the city of Avalon.
To the marathoners and
trail-lovers alike, you are in for a treat. During the course of the marathon,
you will traverse single track trails, ridgelines, and vistas that will afford
views of the Pacific Ocean – from BOTH sides of the island. You will run
through three entirely different eco-systems and see the plant life and animal
life in each. Don't be surprised to see buffalo on the course, seals in the
water, and bald eagles overhead.
While the course is scenically
beautiful, it is challenging as well. Beware “The Catalina Crush” at Mile 19! This
extremely steep hill is so difficult that runners have decided it was worthy of
its own name.
Once you conquer the Catalina
Crush, runners can refuel at one of the many unique themed aid stations, which
are located throughout the course. From
the burger grill at mile 11.5 to the fruit station at mile 19, runners can be
sure they have all the race fuel they need to finish strong.
To top off your marathon
experience, each finisher will receive a one of a kind buffalo head medal which
was featured in Competitor Magazine as one of the “most desired medals”.
This challenging and beautiful
a “can’t miss”experience. Visit www.catalinaecomarathon.com to
