La Sportiva GoLite USATF New England Mountain Circuit

Only Mt. Cranmore and Mt. Ascutney are left in this classic series.   Dave Dunham reports:

$1,000 in prize money is still up for grabs as the circuit heads into its final month.   The top three finishers (male & female), scoring in their best five of the six circuit races, will split the cash.   Age group winners will receive prizes from La Sportiva GoLite.

The top three women through four races are Dawn Heinrich (343 pts), Donna Smyth (341 pts), and Kate Naples (300 pts).   Kelli Lusk (299) and Suzy West (280) also have a shot as they have only completed three races.   The standings could change drastically depending on who races at Cranmore (July 8) and Ascutney (July 15).

Paul Low leads the men with a nearly perfect 399 pts.   Dave Dunham and Rob Smith are currently in second and third at 361 and 337 points respectively.   Dave Audet, Todd Brown, Len Hall, Tom Church, and Paul Bazanchuk also have a chance at the top three depending on who finishes the final two races.

There are currently 25 runners who have completed the four races for a total of 27 miles and over 7,000' of climbing.

Looking at the totals from the inception of the circuit in 1996 show some close battles.   143 points separate the women's leader Donna Smyth from her CSU teammate Suzy West.   Emer O'Donoghue and Lisa Doucett are in third and fourth respectively with just over 10 points separating them.   Donna Smyth continues to hold a 2 finish advantage over Emer O'Donoghue with 32 finishes.   Ember continues to hold onto the longest active streak with 28 consecutive finishes from 2001 to present.

Dave Dunham leads the men by over 1,000 points with 3,524 points.   Richard Stockdale and Fred Ross are currently in third and fifth respectively with less than 10 points separating them.   Ross continues to lead all finishers with 38 from 1996-2006.   Dave Dunham continues to trail him by one finish.   Richard MacDonald is in fourth with 345 finishes and has an impressive 16 consecutive finishes dating back to 2003.
